2009 Pinot Gris
First smell out of the glass is dried apricots. The flavors start to build up with fleshy pear, then on to rich white melon. There is a slight lingering impression of fresh Filberts. The firm acid and alcohol structure of the finish give a sense of “grown up discipline”, against all that “youthful exuberance” of lush fruit. A very well balanced wine for food pairing allows the experimental chef inside to go wild.
2009 Riesling
First thing out of the glass is perfume of apricots and honey. Those notes carry through to the mouth, with the addition of a luxuriously creamy texture. Dare I say, sweet cream butter from cows grazed on lemon basil. On the finish there is a near perfect balance of sweetness and acidity, that leaves a harmoniously clean feeling. A holiday-table star.
2010 Chardonnay
The color is a pale hue of 14 carat gold. An elegant nose of lavender with meadow flowers and fresh cut Asian pear show in the glass. In the mouth, there is a slight perception of sweet cream butter, but the mouth watering acidity keeps it well away from being creamy. The finish is light and nimble as it dances across the tongue with white flesh fruit. This Chardonnay is a perfect summer luncheon companion, bring one along.
2007 Citizen’s Cuvee Pinot Noir
From the Methven Family Estate, this is a very demure Pinot Noir. The nose is elegant, with dried flowers, rose hip, and hints of menthol. The mid-palate flavors are ripe with red fruits and bright cherry. This wine finishes soft and clean, with fine tannins. Although it drinks brilliant now, cellaring for 3-5 more years would show classic pinot noir evolution.
2007 Estate Cuvee Pinot Noir
The Estate Cuvee wine will consistently be the embodiment of our House style of winegrowing. From your first waft of fresh Mt. Hood Strawberry, to the final impressions of vanilla and graham, the nose lures you in for a taste. The flavors keep true to the nose with forward bursts of fresh red fruits. The French oak barrels begin to make their presence known in notes of toast, vanilla, and hard toffee. The acid structure intertwines with firm tannins and leaves a sense of confidence that this wine will continue to impress the taster after years of aging.
2007 Reserve Pinot Noir
From the most complex and extractive new barrels in the cellar, the “Reserve” is assembled. This wine contains hints of dates, baked spice-cake, dried currants, and cocoa powder. The fine-polished tannins are seamless with the core embodiment of Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. Put some in your cellar, and taste regularly to follow the evolution.
2006 Pinot Noir – Willamette Valley
This wine was crafted from new estate vines and older vines from Elton Vineyards. Wonderfully complex aromas of root beer, pine pitch, and vanilla, vaporize out of the glass. The mouth-feel is velvety and supple, with flavors of currant jam and cassis. White-pepper and alcohol add a thrilling finish to the wine, making this a powerful, full-bodied food wine.
2006 Reserve Pinot Noir
Deep ruby red coloring leads to an aromatic profile of rich dark fruit, plum and spice. Flavors of bright cherry. blackberry, and sweet spices such as cinnamon and clove lead to a generous gracefulness on the palate. The finish is expressed with white pepper and earthiness leading to a very long finish that showcases this vintages depth.
